About this album

Swing De Paris is a strong showcase for Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli’s uniquely fluent gypsy jazz. Issued in 1965, this compilation gathers performances from the Quintette du Hot Club de France era, when Reinhardt’s dazzling guitar lines and Grappelli’s lyrical violin created one of jazz’s most distinctive partnerships. The set highlights the group’s blend of swing, European melody and improvisation, heard in standards and signature pieces such as The Man I Love, Djangology and Undecided. As a document of a pioneering acoustic ensemble, it remains an essential entry point into Reinhardt’s and Grappelli’s enduring influence on jazz.
