Black Sabbath - Paranoid

Paranoid gave heavy metal a clear public shape. War Pigs, Iron Man and the title track combine Tony Iommi's low, direct riffs with lyrics about war, fear and alienation. The album is concise enough for newcomers, but its sound still explains why so many later rock and metal bands trace a line back to Black Sabbath.
