Django Reinhardt was a jazz guitarist who is widely considered one of the most influential guitarists of all time. Born in Belgium in 1910, he began playing guitar at the age of 12 and developed his own unique style of playing that combined elements of swing, gypsy, and French musette.
Reinhardt was a part of the "Hot Club of France" alongside violinist Stéphane Grappelli, and the two recorded a number of albums together, including Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli (1937) and Swing 39 (1939). Other standout albums include Django's Dream (1951) and Djangology (1949).
Some of Reinhardt's most notable songs include "Minor Swing," "Nuages," and "Daphne," which featured Reinhardt's signature style of intricate guitar work.
An interesting fact about Reinhardt is that he suffered a severe injury to his left hand in a fire in 1928, leaving two of his fingers permanently paralyzed. Despite this setback, Reinhardt was able to continue playing guitar and even developed a new, more intricate style of playing.
