After the band disbanded in 1982, Sylvian pursued a solo career that spanned over three decades, releasing nine solo albums and several collaborative works.

Sylvian's standout albums include Secrets of the Beehive (1987), Brilliant Trees (1984), Gone to Earth (1986), and Plight and Premonition (1988). His most popular songs include "The Boy with the Gun", "Red Guitar", "Every Colour You Are", "Let the Happiness In", and "The Ink in the Well".
