  • Of all the daring ventures rock band Ween have undertaken over the course of their career, recording an all-country album with legendary Nashville session musicians was arguably the most surprising.

    While their fans were already accustomed to albums characterized by a variety of eclectic style changes, sticking with one genre for an entire album and abandoning their previous DIY recording methods was a big change that even some Ween fans struggled with. Over time, however, "12 Golden Country Greats" has become an important and much-loved part of the band's history.

    There was that great moment in the 60s when everyone went to Nashville to record, be it Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen or others. "12 Golden Country Greats" is one of those records. Nobody did that in 1996; an alternative rock band that went to Nashville to record an album at the legendary Bradley's Barn.

    Ween, however, did..

    To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of "12 Golden Country Greats", Rhino has remastered the original 1996 album and added a bonus album of previously unreleased demos, rare B-sides and outtakes.
