Heavy Weather is Weather Report’s breakthrough fusion album, marrying dazzling improvisation with unusually direct hooks and a polished ensemble sound. Released in 1977, it captured the band at a peak line-up led by Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter, with Jaco Pastorius bringing a new level of melodic bass playing to the music.
