About this album
8:30 is a major live statement from Weather Report, capturing the group at the height of its late-1970s fusion powers. Released in 1979, the double album draws on material from across the band’s run, including key pieces such as Black Market, Teen Town, A Remark You Made and Birdland, alongside expansive improvisation and solo spotlights. The set underlines how Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter pushed jazz towards a more electric, groove-led vocabulary, while Jaco Pastorius’s presence helped give the music its snap and daring. More than a simple concert document, it became one of the defining live fusion releases of its era.
