Violent Femmes – The Blind Leading The Naked (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1986

The Blind Leading The Naked is an LP by Violent Femmes from 1986 released on the Big Time label.

About this album

The Blind Leading the Naked is a strikingly expanded Violent Femmes album, sharpening the band’s scrappy alternative rock with fuller arrangements and a more explicitly political edge. Released in 1986, it followed their breakthrough early-80s releases and showed Gordon Gano, Brian Ritchie and Victor DeLorenzo broadening their sound without losing the jittery acoustic punk tension that made them distinctive. The record includes sharply pointed material such as Old Mother Reagan and No Killing, alongside more melodic, searching songs that underline the band’s knack for balancing irony, urgency and dark humour. It stands as one of their most ambitious and varied statements.
