Great Truckin’ Songs Of The Renaissance announced TISM as one of Australian music’s most mischievous and inventive provocateurs. Released in 1988, the album mixes punk, indie rock, synth-pop and spoken-word parody into a relentlessly satirical debut that skewers creativity, celebrity, politics and suburban life with deadpan precision. Songs such as I’m Interested In Apathy and If You’re Creative, Get Stuffed helped establish the band’s confrontational humour and masked persona, while the record’s loose, collage-like approach gave its comedy real bite. It became the starting point for TISM’s long-running cult reputation and one of the most distinctive Australian releases of its era.
