About this album

Cut Above The Rest is a strong late-period album from The Sweet, sharpening the band’s glam roots into tougher hard rock. Issued in 1979, it shows the group adapting to the post-glam landscape with heavier guitars, tighter arrangements and a more muscular sound without losing their knack for hooks. The record stands as part of The Sweet’s evolution beyond their early chart success, reflecting both the band’s durability and the changing face of mainstream rock at the end of the decade. For listeners drawn to classic rock with a bite, it captures a seasoned band still pushing forward.
