    About this album

Give Up is the defining album by The Postal Service, the Benjamin Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello project that brought indie-pop songwriting and electronic texture into perfect balance. Released in 2003, it turned detached-feeling laptop production into something emotionally immediate, with clear melodies and softly pulsing synths underpinning songs such as Such Great Heights, The District Sleeps Alone Tonight and Clark Gable. Produced with a light touch and rooted in the early-2000s indie boom, the album became a crossover success and a lasting touchstone for synth-pop and indie rock alike. Its reputation has only grown since release.
