The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome is a sharp late-period revival that reasserted Slade’s knack for huge hooks, bruising riffs and raucous singalongs. Issued in 1983, the album found the band adapting their glam-rock attack for the hard-rock climate of the early ’80s without losing the noisy charisma that made them stars in the first place. It yielded some of Slade’s best-known later songs, including Run Runaway and My Oh My, and helped restore their profile after a quieter run of years. With its punchy choruses and leaner, harder edge, it stands as one of their strongest post-1970s records.
