About this album
Redgum’s Greatest: Everything’s Legal - Anything Goes distils the Australian band’s most pointed and enduring work into one compilation. Drawing on their blend of folk-rock, satire and plainspoken political commentary, it highlights why Redgum became one of the country’s most distinctive 1980s voices. The set includes the landmark anti-war anthem I Was Only 19, alongside songs that reflect the group’s humour, social conscience and strong sense of place. Compiled in 1985, it captures a band that turned regional storytelling and protest into mainstream recognition, helping define an era of Australian rock with songs that still resonate.
