Redgum – Brown Rice & Kerosine (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1981

Brown Rice & Kerosine is an LP by Redgum from 1981 released on the Epic label.

About this album

Brown Rice & Kerosine is a sharp political folk-rock album from Redgum, a band that helped define socially conscious Australian rock in the early 1980s. Issued in 1981, it draws strength from their direct writing, acoustic drive and plainspoken observations about war, politics and everyday life. Songs such as 100 Years On and The Federal Two-ring Circus show the group balancing blunt commentary with memorable hooks, while the broader album reinforced Redgum’s reputation for making protest music feel local rather than abstract. It stands as one of the key records in the band’s catalogue and a clear document of their working-class, Australian perspective.
