Candles In The Rain is an LP by Melanie from 1970 released on the Buddah Records label.

About this album

Candles In The Rain is Melanie’s breakthrough album, and one of the defining folk-rock statements of the early 1970s. Issued in 1971, it brought her intimate songwriting and distinctive voice to a wider audience, led by the hit “Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)”, which became a major international calling card. The album balances personal reflection with open, melodic arrangements, moving easily between gentle confession and communal uplift. Its mix of self-penned material and carefully chosen covers helped establish Melanie as a major singer-songwriter of the era, with a sound that still feels warm, direct and unmistakably individual.
