F.L.M. is a sharp, hook-driven debut that helped define late-1980s British pop. Mel & Kim’s only studio album brought together Stock Aitken Waterman’s polished dance-pop formula with the sisters’ bright, charismatic delivery, turning singles such as Showing Out, Respectable and the title track into enduring club and chart favourites. Released in 1987, it sits at the point where synth-pop, electro and freestyle met mainstream pop, balancing glossy production with direct, memorable songwriting. The album became the duo’s signature statement and remains one of the clearest examples of the Stock Aitken Waterman era at full strength.
