MC5 – Back In The USA (G+/VG) – LP, AU 1970

Back In The USA is an LP by MC5 from 1970 released on the Atlantic label.

About this album

Back In The USA finds MC5 tightening their Detroit garage-rock fury into a sharper, faster rock & roll statement. Released in 1970, it was produced by seminal Stooges producer Jon Landau and pushes the band towards leaner, more direct songcraft without losing their rebellious edge. The album blends cover versions and originals into a furious set that links teenage energy, streetwise swagger and political bite, with “The American Ruse” standing out as a pointed response to America’s turmoil. Less sprawling than their debut, it remains one of the most potent examples of hard-edged proto-punk from the era.
