Released in 1984, the album blends symphonic scale with punchier writing, driven by Steve Rothery’s expressive guitar work, Mark Kelly’s keyboards and Fish’s theatrical vocals and lyrics. Produced by Nick Tauber, it includes fan favourites such as Assassing and Punch & Judy, and helped cement the band’s reputation as one of the leading names in 1980s British prog. Its mix of ambition, melody and tension makes it a key early Marillion album.
