Machinations – Esteem (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1983

Esteem is an LP by Machinations from 1983 released on the White Label Records label.

About this album

Esteem is Machinations’ sharpest and most enduring album statement, a polished slice of Australian synth-pop that helped define the band’s early sound. Released in 1983, it blends crisp electronic textures, melodic pop instinct and cool, urban tension into a record that feels both immediate and carefully constructed. The album’s best-known song, “Pressure Sway”, became a key calling card, giving Machinations wider recognition and helping establish them within the early-1980s electronic pop landscape. Sleek but not sterile, Esteem shows a band balancing dancefloor momentum with a distinctly local sensibility, making it one of the notable Australian synth-pop albums of its era.
