Machinations – Big Music (VG+/VG) – LP, AU 1985

Big Music is an LP by Machinations from 1985 released on the White Label Records label.

About this album

Big Music is the album where Machinations sharpened their blend of synth-pop, pop rock and dance-floor rhythm into one of mid-’80s Australian new wave’s most distinctive statements. Released in 1985, it draws on electronic textures, funk, reggae and pop hooks without losing the band’s taut, melodic core. Songs such as My Heart’s On Fire, No Say In It and Don’t Take Me helped define their radio-ready but musically adventurous approach, balancing immediacy with polished studio craft. The result is a record that sits comfortably between club culture and mainstream pop, and remains a strong example of Australian bands expanding the palette of commercial rock in the 1980s.
