About this album
Forever Changes is Love’s defining masterpiece and one of the great late-1960s American rock albums. Released in 1967, it blended psychedelic rock, folk rock and baroque pop into a uniquely uneasy beauty, pairing ornate string and horn arrangements with Arthur Lee’s sharp, disillusioned songwriting. Recorded in Los Angeles with contributions from arranger and conductor David Angel, the album turns songs such as Alone Again Or, A House Is Not A Motel and You Set The Scene into a portrait of generational anxiety and fleeting hope. Initially overlooked, it later became widely regarded as a landmark of the era and a major influence on indie and alternative rock.
