About this album
On The Line is a polished jazz-fusion statement that shows Lee Ritenour at his most accessible and assured. Released in 1983, the album sits comfortably between jazz, rock and smooth studio precision, with Ritenour’s clean guitar tone and fluid phrasing carrying the material. It reflects the early-1980s crossover moment when electric jazz reached wider audiences without losing its instrumental focus. Built around concise, melodic writing and tightly arranged ensemble playing, the album strengthened Ritenour’s reputation as one of fusion’s most stylish and technically refined guitarists.
