Jon English – Wine Dark Sea (VG/E) – LP, AU 1973

Wine Dark Sea is an LP by Jon English from 1973 released on the Warm & Genuine label.

About this album

Wine Dark Sea finds Jon English balancing straight-ahead pop with theatrical drama, a combination that helped define his early 1970s appeal. Released in 1973, the album followed his breakthrough as a performer and songwriter and showed the Australian artist working with clear melodic instincts and a broad emotional range. The title track anchors a record that also moves through reflective balladry and punchier material, including his reading of Handbags and Gladrags and the dramatic Close Every Door. It is an early snapshot of a versatile singer who could cross from pop to stage with ease.
