Hole – Live Through This

Hole's Live Through This arrived in 1994 at a moment when alternative rock was breaking into the mainstream, and its reputation has only grown since. Often treated as Hole's defining album, it pushed the band beyond the jagged attack of Pretty on the Inside without losing its bite. The songs pair Courtney Love's fierce, exposed vocals with hooks sharp enough to carry some of the most memorable rock singles of the decade, including "Violet," "Miss World," and "Doll Parts."

Produced by Paul Q. Kolderie and Sean Slade, the album broadened Hole's musical and lyrical range while keeping the urgency that made the band so confrontational in the first place. With Courtney Love joined by Eric Erlandson, Kristen Pfaff, and Patty Schemel, Live Through This balances abrasion and melody in a way that helped it connect far beyond punk's inner circles. It went platinum, and its standing has been reinforced over time by a place in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, where it was ranked at No. 106.

This 2026 vinyl edition makes a strong case for returning to the record as an album rather than just a run of singles. The audio has been newly remastered for vinyl, the packaging has been restored, and the complete original booklet is included on vinyl for the first time, preserving an important part of how this release was originally presented.
