    Out To Lunch! is Eric Dolphy’s landmark Blue Note album, and one of the most influential avant-garde jazz records of the 1960s. Recorded in 1964 and released shortly before Dolphy’s death, it pairs his alto saxophone, flute and bass clarinet with a remarkable quintet including Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Richard Davis and Tony Williams. Produced by Alfred Lion and captured with crisp Blue Note sound, the album balances intricate composition with open improvisation. Pieces such as Hat And Beard and Gazzelloni helped define a new, adventurous language for post-bop, making the record a touchstone for modern jazz.
