    About this album

Burn is a vital reinvention for Deep Purple, sharpening the band’s heavy sound while introducing David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes. Released in 1974, it followed the acclaimed Mk II era and found the group leaning into harder riffing, blues-rock muscle and extended improvisation with fresh energy. The title track became an immediate hard rock anthem, while “Mistreated” and “You Fool No One” showed the band stretching out with grit and control. Produced by the band with Roger Glover, Burn helped define the mid-70s heavy rock template and remains one of Deep Purple’s most celebrated albums.
