About this album
Crowded House is a standout debut that turned the Split Enz offshoot into an international pop-rock force. Released in 1986, the album combines sharp songwriting, concise arrangements and a polished studio sound that helped define late-80s radio-friendly rock. Led by Neil Finn’s melodic gift, it produced enduring favourites including Don’t Dream It’s Over, World Where You Live and Something So Strong, songs that carried the band well beyond Australasia. The record’s blend of emotional clarity and hook-driven craft made it one of the era’s most successful and influential mainstream rock debuts.
