Big Bambú is one of Cheech & Chong’s sharpest and most enduring comedy albums, turning stoner-era counterculture into a stream of tightly written sketches, character voices and absurd routines. Released in 1972, it built on the duo’s early success by mixing streetwise humour with sharp observational parody, helped by recurring bits such as Sister Mary Elephant, The Continuing Adventures of Pedro De Pacas And Man, and The Bust. Rather than relying on one-liners, the album creates a vivid comic world that captured a generation’s anti-establishment mood and helped make Cheech & Chong among the most recognisable comedy acts of the 1970s.
