Spectrum is an LP by Billy Cobham from 1973 released on the Atlantic label.

About this album

Spectrum is Billy Cobham’s landmark fusion debut, a muscular 1973 set that helped define jazz-rock with virtuoso technique and rhythmic force. Coming off his work with Miles Davis and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Cobham stepped out as a bandleader and built a record that balances explosive drumming with electric keyboards, guitar and bass. The result became one of the key statements of early jazz-fusion, with standout pieces such as “Quadrant 4” and “Stratus” showcasing both power and precision. Widely regarded as a classic of the genre, the album helped set the template for fusion’s harder, funkier edge.
