Billy Cobham is a legendary jazz-fusion drummer and percussionist. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential drummers in jazz and jazz-fusion music. He was born on May 16, 1944 in Panama and began playing drums at the age of three.

Cobham first gained recognition in the early 1970s as the drummer for jazz-fusion pioneer Miles Davis. He then went on to form his own group, the Billy Cobham/George Duke Band, with keyboardist George Duke. With this group, Cobham released his first solo album, Spectrum, in 1973. The album, which featured his signature drumming style, was a huge success and has since been regarded as a jazz-fusion classic.

Other standout albums include Crosswinds (1974), Shabazz (1975), A Funky Thide of Sings (1976), Life & Times (1978) and Warning (1981).

Cobham's songs, such as “Stratus”, “Crosswinds” and “Red Baron”, have become classic jazz-fusion anthems and have been covered by numerous other artists.
