Beck - Ride Lonesome

Beck – Ride Lonesome is his first album of all-new material since 2019’s Hyperspace, and his 15th studio album. More tellingly, it reconnects him with the group of players behind Mutations, Sea Change and Morning Phase: Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner, with Nigel Godrich back to mix. That immediately places the record in one of the most reflective corners of Beck’s catalogue.

The strongest story in the source material is that reunion. Beck recorded the album in Room B at United Studios in Hollywood and described the sessions as a return to a familiar musical and physical space, while also finding new sounds and emotional textures. Rather than treating the older records as a formula, Ride Lonesome seems to lean on the chemistry that had developed over decades, which helps explain why these songs are framed as intimate and cinematic rather than simply nostalgic.

The title track, introduced in April 2026, and the later single “In the Night” point toward that warm, atmospheric approach. If you value the slow-burn side of Beck more than the prankster shapeshifting, this looks like a purposeful return: a new album built with the same trusted collaborators who shaped some of his most emotionally direct work, but with the sense of a band picking up an old conversation after time away.
