The Avalanches – No Bad Memories (2xLP, Yellow Vinyl)

The Avalanches' No Bad Memories arrives as the group's fourth album, a 2026 set built around a sharply modern idea: how advertising, technology and pop culture get tangled up with personal memory. Rather than treating nostalgia as something soft or innocent, the record is described as an ambivalent love letter to commercial jingles, start-up chimes and the half-forgotten audio logos that quietly lodge themselves in everyday life.

That concept fits The Avalanches especially well. Their music has long thrived on collage, association and the strange emotional charge of familiar sounds, and here that instinct seems turned toward the way branded fragments can become part of private recollection. The result promises an album concerned not just with memory itself, but with how mass culture shapes what we remember and why it still feels vivid years later.

The record also stretches outward through a guest list that includes Karen O, Jamie xx and Portraits of Tracy, suggesting a broad palette around the duo's sample-minded electronic approach. For vinyl buyers, this edition presents No Bad Memories as a substantial 2xLP release, with the kind of physical presentation that suits an album about collecting, replaying and recontextualising sound.
