The Avalanches Vinyl Records

The Avalanches are an Australian electronic music group from Melbourne, Victoria, formed in 1997. The group's core members are Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi.

The Avalanches released their debut album, Since I Left You, in 2000 to widespread critical acclaim. It was certified triple platinum in Australia and was nominated for a Mercury Prize in 2001. The album featured samples from over 3,500 vinyl records and was described by Pitchfork as “a record that captured the musical zeitgeist of the late ‘90s, a time of maximalist sampling, crate-digging, and genre-bending.”

Their follow-up album, Wildflower, was released in 2016. It featured guest vocals from artists such as Danny Brown, MF Doom, and Jennifer Herrema and was met with positive reviews.

The Avalanches have had several standout singles over the years, including “Since I Left You”, “Frontier Psychiatrist”, “Electricity”, and “Frankie Sinatra”.

An interesting fact about The Avalanches is that their debut album was mixed entirely on a vintage Akai GX4000D reel-to-reel tape machine.
