    About this album

A landmark bossa nova album, The Composer Of Desafinado, Plays presents Antonio Carlos Jobim as both composer and refined interpreter of his own songs. Released in 1963, it helped define the sound that would carry Brazilian music onto the international stage, blending jazz harmony, Latin rhythm and Jobim’s relaxed melodic elegance. The album’s enduring reputation rests on standards such as The Girl From Ipanema, Desafinado, One Note Samba and Corcovado, songs that became synonymous with bossa nova itself. Widely regarded as one of Jobim’s essential recordings, it captures the style at the moment it moved from local innovation to global influence.
