Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994) was a Brazilian musician, composer, and singer-songwriter, who was a major figure in the development of the bossa nova genre of music. He is known for his classic songs such as "The Girl from Ipanema" and "Desafinado," which were both international hits. He composed over 300 songs and worked with many artists, including Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Jobim was a pioneer of the bossa nova movement, which combined traditional Brazilian music with jazz.

His standout albums include Wave (1967), The Composer of Desafinado Plays (1964), and Stone Flower (1970). His most famous songs include "The Girl from Ipanema," "Corcovado," "Chega de Saudade," and "One Note Samba."

An interesting fact about Antonio Carlos Jobim is that he was the first Brazilian to win a Grammy Award, which he received for his album Wave in 1967. He was also the first Brazilian musician to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992.
