W.A.S.P. is an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 by frontman Blackie Lawless. They are best known for their outrageous live performances, which feature sexual and satanic imagery.

The band has released 16 studio albums, with their most successful being 1984's W.A.S.P., which reached number 21 on the Billboard 200 chart, and 1989's Headless Children, which reached number 29. Their most successful single was the 1986 track "Wild Child", which reached number 14 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

Some of their other standout albums include The Crimson Idol (1992), The Headless Children (1989), and The Neon God: Part I & II (2004). Notable songs include "I Wanna Be Somebody", "L.O.V.E. Machine", and "Hold on to My Heart".

An interesting fact about W.A.S.P. is that they were one of the first metal bands to use pyrotechnics in their live shows, which they began using in 1983.
