Television is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 1973. The band is credited as one of the first punk rock groups and is widely considered to have helped create the punk rock genre. Television's lineup consisted of Tom Verlaine on guitar and vocals, Richard Lloyd on guitar, Billy Ficca on drums, and Fred Smith on bass.
Television released two studio albums, Marquee Moon (1977) and Adventure (1978). Marquee Moon is often cited as one of the greatest albums of all time, with standout tracks like "See No Evil," "Marquee Moon," and "Friction." Adventure was a more commercial effort than their debut, but it still contained some of their most popular songs, like "Glory," "Days," and "Foxhole."
An interesting fact about Television is that they have been cited as an influence by a number of well-known musicians, including U2, The Edge, and David Bowie. In fact, Bowie even went so far as to say that he "worshipped" Television.
