Steve Hackett is an English musician and songwriter who is best known for his work with the progressive rock band Genesis. He was the band's lead guitarist from 1971 to 1977 and was a key contributor to their classic albums such as Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

Hackett has had a prolific solo career since leaving Genesis, with over 25 solo albums to his name. His standout albums include Voyage of the Acolyte (1975), Please Don't Touch (1978), Spectral Mornings (1979), Defector (1980), Highly Strung (1983), Bay of Kings (1983) and To Watch the Storms (2003). He is also known for his collaborations with other artists such as Steve Howe and Steve Rothery.

His most popular songs include "The Steppes", "The Steppes" (live version), "Spectral Mornings", "Kim", "Every Day" and "The Show".

An interesting fact about Steve Hackett is that he was the first artist to perform with a guitar synthesizer. He used it on the Genesis album Duke and on his own solo album Spectral Mornings.
