Procol Harum is a British progressive rock band formed in 1967. The band's line-up has included vocalist Gary Brooker, guitarist Robin Trower, organist Matthew Fisher, bassist David Knights and drummer BJ Wilson.

Their most successful album is 1967's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" which became an international hit. The album featured the single of the same name, which was the band's biggest hit, reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one in the UK. The single was a multi-million selling hit, selling over 10 million copies.

The band released several other successful albums, including Shine On Brightly (1968), A Salty Dog (1969), Home (1970), Broken Barricades (1971), and Grand Hotel (1973).

Some of their most popular songs include "A Whiter Shade of Pale," "Homburg," "Conquistador," and "A Salty Dog."

An interesting fact about Procol Harum is that their song "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was the first track to be played on BBC Radio 1 when it launched in 1967.
