Idles are a post-punk band from Bristol, England, formed in 2009. The band consists of Joe Talbot (vocals), Mark Bowen (guitar), Lee Kiernan (guitar), Adam Devonshire (bass) and Jon Beavis (drums).

Idles have released three studio albums to date. Their debut album, Brutalism (2017), was met with critical acclaim, with songs like “Mother” and “Well Done” standing out as some of their best-known tracks. Their second album, Joy as an Act of Resistance (2018), was also a critical success and spawned the singles “Danny Nedelko” and “Never Fight a Man With a Perm”. Their most recent album, Ultra Mono (2020), is their most successful to date, reaching #1 on the UK Albums Chart.

The band are known for their politically charged lyrics, which often focus on topics such as mental health, class divisions, and toxic masculinity. Their live shows are renowned for their passionate energy and sense of community.

An interesting fact about Idles is that their song “Mother” was featured in the 2018 film adaptation of The Miseducation of Cameron Post, starring Chloe Grace Moretz.
