Doom Metal

Doom metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that typically uses slower tempos, low-tuned guitars and a much "denser" or "heavier" sound than other metal genres. It began as an offshoot of traditional doom metal, a style of music that was heavily influenced by the early work of Black Sabbath. Doom metal bands often draw inspiration from horror films, gothic literature, and religious themes. The genre is closely related to other forms of extreme metal such as sludge metal, funeral doom and drone metal. Although it is typically slow and heavy, some doom metal bands incorporate elements of traditional heavy metal and thrash metal.
