Derek & The Dominos Vinyl Records

Derek & The Dominos was an English–American rock band formed in 1970 by singer–songwriter and guitarist Eric Clapton, keyboardist and bassist Bobby Whitlock, drummer Jim Gordon, and guitarist and bassist Carl Radle. The band is best known for their 1970 double album, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, which featured the hit single “Layla”.

The band's self-titled debut album, Derek & The Dominos, was released in October 1970. The album featured their hit single “Layla”, which was written by Clapton and Whitlock. The album also featured the song “Bell Bottom Blues”, which was written and sung by Clapton.

Their second album, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, was released in December 1970. The album included the singles “Layla” and “Bell Bottom Blues”. The album featured the song “I Looked Away”, which was written by Clapton and Whitlock, and the song “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out”, which was written by Jimmie Cox.

An interesting fact about Derek & The Dominos is that the band was formed in just two weeks. Clapton and Whitlock had met while working on the George Harrison-produced All Things Must Pass album and had written the song “Layla” together. Clapton had asked Whitlock to join him in forming a new band and the two quickly assembled the other members.
