Christopher Hogwood Vinyl Records

Christopher Hogwood (1941-2014) was an English conductor, harpsichordist, musicologist, and editor. He was a renowned scholar of early music, and is credited with helping to popularize the performance of Baroque music on authentic instruments. He founded the Academy of Ancient Music in 1973, which performed music from the Baroque era and earlier, and went on to become one of the most successful and highly acclaimed early music ensembles.

Hogwood's standout albums include his recordings of Handel's 'Messiah' (1980) and 'The Fairy Queen' (1985), Mozart's 'Le Nozze di Figaro' (1985) and 'Cosi fan Tutte' (1991), and J.S. Bach's 'Brandenburg Concertos' (1985). He also released numerous recordings of works by Handel, Haydn, Purcell, and Vivaldi, among others.

An interesting fact about Hogwood is that he was the first performer to record all of the surviving works of J.S. Bach on the harpsichord.
