Blossom Dearie Vinyl Records

Blossom Dearie was an American jazz singer and pianist. She was born in East Durham, New York, in 1924 and began playing piano at an early age. She studied classical music and jazz before joining a vocal group in the 1940s. She released her debut album, Blossom Dearie, in 1954 and went on to become a staple of the jazz scene in the 1950s and 1960s. Her most famous albums include the Grammy-nominated Blossom Dearie Sings (1956), Give Him the Ooh-La-La (1957) and Blossom Dearie Sings Comden and Green (1960). Her standout songs include “It Might As Well Be Spring”, “I’m Hip” and “The Gentleman is a Dope”. An interesting fact about Blossom Dearie is that she was a member of the Les Double Six, a vocal group formed by legendary saxophonist and composer John Coltrane. She also collaborated with Miles Davis and provided the voice for the character 'Duchess' in the 1970 film version of The Aristocats.
