Eliminator is the album that transformed ZZ Top from veteran blues-rock favourites into MTV-era superstars. Released in 1983, it sharpened the band’s Texas boogie into a leaner, more radio-ready sound, with Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard pairing guitars and rhythm-machine drive with slicker production. The result was a crossover powerhouse built around era-defining singles such as Gimme All Your Lovin’, Sharp Dressed Man and Legs. Its blend of hard rock, blues roots and pop immediacy made it one of the band’s biggest commercial successes and a landmark of 1980s rock.
