ZZ Top – Afterburner (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1985

Afterburner is an LP by ZZ Top from 1985 released on the Warner Bros. Records label.

About this album

Afterburner finds ZZ Top leaning into sleek 1980s radio rock without losing the swagger that made them famous. Released in 1985, the album followed the massive success of Eliminator and continued the band’s run of synthesiser-assisted blues rock under producer Bill Ham. Songs like Sleeping Bag, Rough Boy and Velcro Fly turned ZZ Top’s bar-band grit into sharp, hook-driven singles that kept them prominent on rock and pop radio alike. The result is one of their most commercially visible albums, balancing Texas blues roots with the polished sound that defined the mid-1980s mainstream.
