    About this album

Wanted is a punchy late-1980s pop album that turned Yazz into a major chart presence. Issued in 1988, her debut LP blends electronic polish with rock-edged pop, driven by the irresistible momentum of The Only Way Is Up, one of the biggest singles of the era, and the confident anthem Stand Up For Your Love Rights. The album sits at the crossroads of club culture and mainstream radio, reflecting the broad, upbeat sound of late-1980s UK pop. Its mix of dancefloor energy, melodic hooks and self-assertive lyrics made Wanted a defining statement from an artist who helped bring house-influenced pop into the charts.
