Bleeds is the sixth studio album by Wednesday, released in September 2025 on Dead Oceans. It builds on the acclaim of Rat Saw God while pushing further into the band’s extremes, mixing alt-country, shoegaze textures, and sludgy indie rock with southern gothic storytelling. Karly Hartzman’s lyrics balance raw confession with sharp, place-based imagery, giving the record both intimacy and weight. Songs such as Wound Up Here (By Holdin’ On) and Elderberry Wine anchor the album’s emotional core, while noisier tracks provide cathartic release.
The record feels like a culmination of Wednesday’s identity—loud and quiet, gritty and poetic, grounded and surreal. Produced by Alex Farrar in Asheville, it showcases the band’s ability to weave character studies, fractured memories, and surging soundscapes into a unified vision. Bleeds is both a continuation and a bold step forward, solidifying Wednesday as one of the most vital rock bands of their era.
Reviews
“Wednesday expand their palette even further with yet another masterpiece.” — Sputnikmusic
“Bleeds is not only the best Wednesday record—it’s also the most Wednesday record, a patchwork-style triumph of literary allusions and outlaw grit, of place-based poetry and hair-raising noise.” — Dead Oceans press release
