Written for Jean-Jacques Beineix’s 1981 film, it blends lyrical melody with pop, ambient colour and modern classical unease, matching the movie’s elegant, offbeat atmosphere. The best-known cue, “Promenade Sentimentale”, became widely loved for its haunting simplicity, while the score’s mix of refined romance and urban tension gives the film its distinctive identity.
