Chesky Records, the legendary New York-based label known for its audiophile recordings and minimalist approach to sound recording in reverberant spaces, proudly presents “The Audiophile Classical Collection.” Compiled from the label’s extensive back catalog, this anthology underscores Chesky’s commitment to first-class, unprocessed sound across a wide range of musical styles. From the Baroque clarity of Vivaldi—often featuring just a single musician per part—to the late-Romantic grandeur of Wagner and Holst, each selection demonstrates the depth and brilliance of the Chesky sound.
The collection showcases an extraordinary lineup of talent, including Charles Gerhardt, who conducts the National Philharmonic Orchestra in a rousing interpretation of Wagner’s “Die Walküre: Ride of the Valkyries,” as well as the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, which delivers the sheer orchestral power required for Holst’s “Mars” and Strauss’s “The Blue Danube.” The set also features the complex chamber music works of the Connecticut Early Music Festival Ensemble under Igor Kipnis, as well as the sensual, atmospheric saxophone of Lawrence Feldman with the Orquesta Nova. For a truly immersive experience, organist Gregory D’Agostino performs Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue” at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in Manhattan.
Evosound presents “The Audiophile Classical Collection” as part of the Chesky Original Masters Series—pressed onto 180-gram vinyl using the sonically superior One-Step process and cut at 33 rpm.
